Will We Work On What You Already Own?

Yes, in almost every case.

Alamo Comfort Heating & Air Conditioning repairs and services Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, Ruud and Bosch equipment across San Antonio, along with every other major badge you are likely to have. Parts, diagnostics, maintenance and warranty labor all run across brands. The one limit worth knowing is supply rather than skill. Carrier and Lennox sell new equipment only through their own dealer networks, so we keep those running without fitting them new. Alamo Comfort Heating & Air Conditioning installs Trane, Goodman, Ruud, and Bosch systems in San Antonio. And we do not touch interior duct cleaning because we replace ductwork rather than vacuum it.

Which Badge Is On Your Unit?

Six brands turn up on San Antonio slabs more than any others. Here is the one thing worth knowing about each, and whether we can supply it new or only keep it alive.

Trane

Trane

Built in Tyler, Texas among other plants, and one of the lines we can supply and fit new as well as repair.

Trane and American Standard roll off the same production under Trane Technologies, so parts and service cross over almost entirely.

Goodman

Goodman

Founded in Houston in 1975 and Daikin-owned since 2012, and another line we both supply and install new.

Goodman and Amana share engineering platforms and come out of the same Texas plant at Waller, north-west of Houston.

Ruud

Ruud

Rheem and Ruud are one manufacturer wearing two badges, and this is a line we fit new as well as service.

Rheem also owns Friedrich, a brand that has been designed and built in San Antonio for decades.

Ruud repair and installation
Bosch

Bosch

German engineering known for inverter-driven heat pumps that modulate instead of cycling, and a line we supply and install.

Variable-speed systems suit our humidity, because longer runtimes at lower output pull far more moisture out of the air.

Carrier

Carrier

Willis Carrier invented modern air conditioning in 1902. Carrier sells through its own dealer network, so we service and repair rather than supply new.

Carrier, Bryant and Payne are the same family from premium down to value, which is why parts so often interchange.

Lennox

Lennox

Headquartered in Richardson, Texas. Lennox distributes through its own dealers and parts stores, so we keep these running rather than fit them new.

Lennox runs a more proprietary parts ecosystem than most, which is worth knowing before you authorize a major repair.

Not listed is not the same as not covered. Call with the model number off the data plate and we will tell you in under a minute whether it is something we work on.

What The Sticker On Your Unit Tells Us

Everything above assumes you know your brand. Plenty of people do not, and the answer is on a metal sticker you have walked past a hundred times.

Where to find it

The data plate is the metal sticker on the side of the outdoor unit, and there is a second one inside the furnace or air handler door. Photograph both once with your phone and you never hunt for them again.

What the model number says

It encodes the capacity, usually in the middle digits, and the efficiency tier. Capacity is measured in tons, which is an amount of cooling rather than the weight of anything sitting on your slab.

What the serial number says

It carries the year the unit was built, which is usually the single most useful fact about it. Age decides whether a repair is worth doing far more reliably than the badge ever will.

Read us those two numbers over the phone and we can usually tell you what your system needs, and roughly what it costs, before anyone drives out to look at it.

Three Things To Demand On Any Quote

The badge on the box matters less than what the installing company does with it. These are the three things worth insisting on, from us or from anyone else bidding your job, and the reason each one changes how the system runs.

The sizing math, written down

Ask to see the load calculation, the room-by-room measurement of how much heating and cooling the house actually needs. Most quotes skip it and copy the tonnage off the old unit, which inherits whatever mistake was made the last time around. Bigger is not safer. An oversized system blasts and shuts off instead of running steadily, so the house ends up cold and clammy at the same time.

Both model numbers, not one

A system is two pieces, the outdoor unit and the indoor coil, and the efficiency rating on the sticker only holds if that exact pair was tested together. The pairing is confirmed by an AHRI certificate, a public record from the industry body that tests the combinations. Ask for both model numbers on the quote and the certificate number beside them.

The readings from the day it goes in

Ask for the startup numbers in writing on the invoice. Refrigerant weighed in rather than guessed at, airflow measured, temperature difference across the coil recorded. That process is called commissioning, and it is the difference between a system that was installed and one installed correctly. It is also the first thing to vanish when a crew is behind schedule.

If a contractor will not put those three on paper, that tells you something useful at no cost. Ours arrive as standard rather than on request, because a system we sized wrong becomes our callback, our warranty labor and our review.

Rebates Follow the Rating, Not the Badge

CPS Energy, the utility serving San Antonio, runs its own rebate program for qualifying high-efficiency equipment. It looks at the equipment’s efficiency rating and asks for a Texas-licensed HVAC contractor, not a particular manufacturer’s dealer.

Financing is available through Synchrony for qualified customers.

Brand Questions We Get Asked

Call and ask
Do you service Lennox systems?
Yes. We repair, maintain and source parts for Lennox across San Antonio. We cannot sell you a new one, because Lennox supplies only through its own dealer network.
Can you install a new Carrier system?
No. Carrier sells new equipment through its dealers only. We will keep yours running for years, and when it is finally done we will quote a comparable system we can supply.
Will you warranty a system you did not install?
We warranty our own labor on any repair we carry out, whoever fitted the unit. The manufacturer’s parts warranty stays with the equipment and its registration.
Do I have to replace with the same brand?
No. Nothing about your ductwork, line set or thermostat locks you to one manufacturer. Sizing and install quality decide how it performs far more than the badge.
Which brand do you recommend?
It depends on the house rather than on us. Ductwork, budget, how long you are staying and whether you want variable-speed all move the answer.
